Sebas
"Podenco Espanol"
An International Rescue Mission
This is Sebas today at home with us here in France - he is healthy, happy & much loved.
His story is a tragic one, but only one of many thousands of similar tragic stories every year....

Sebas was a young dog - probably aged under a year old - when he was spotted roaming the streets of a village in Spain with one foot caught in a horrible trap.

This is how Alicia from the rescue association
 Evolucion
tells the first part of the story of Sebas:
11-6-07:
"Look at this poor animal.
His leg was caught by a trap.
Saturday morning a foster family of Evolución called me to say that she heard that a small dog was very injured because of a trap. As I had to go to Toledo in order to take a Galga found the evening before to her foster family, I decided also to go to this small village to see if the dog was there. But as soon as I arrived in Toledo, Raquel, the foster family told me that the police went and removed the trap. So I decided not to go to this village.

Then this morning I received the pictures of this poor dog. The police never went on saturday so the poor dog was with the trap 2 days more until this morning. With a lot of difficulties he was caught  by a woman. I called her immediately to say that of course we will take care of him. So tomorrow, Raquel, will take him to Madrid and there our vets will amputate his leg.
The worst thing is almost everybody in the village knew that Sebas was abandoned 6 months ago. He would  look for food in the rubbish bins every day.
these bloody hunters!!!!"

12-6-07:
"no, the leg was really bad.
Vet had to amputate all as all the leg was infected and dead."

just a few pictures from Sebas, the little Podenco with a leg caught by a trap.
He is recovering very fast. He is in a foster home with friend Hilary, Galga Paloma and 2 cats.

Jacqui's story:
I saw the terrible photos of Sebas on the site of SOS-Levriers in France and immediately contacted Kathi.
She wrote to ask Alicia if I could adopt Sebas - and she agreed!
So it was  in August 2007 my husband & I drove down to Bilbao in Spain to meet Ivan
who had brought Sebas with his best friend Paloma & another Galgo, Baldomero from Madrid
to meet us.

Paloma & Baldo had wonderful homes waiting for them in France and little Sebas was coming home with us.
He was very very frightened, but with lots of reassurance from Ivan & myself, he eventually followed the others
and jumped into my car.
During the long ride back to France ALL the dogs were wonderful and after lots of cuddles
they settled down to sleep!

and so ends the sad story of Sebas - and begins the happy ending:-)
After an adolescent "macho" phase, Sebas has settled in here and is loved by one & all!
He can jump like a circus pony and I am even considering doing Agility with him (if I can keep up!!)
