Monet's Garden & the Hotel Baudy
Giverny
Normandy, France
June 2009

On our return from the Euro Dog Show in Dublin, we stopped off in Normandy
to visit the breathtaking garden in the tiny village of Giverny
where Claude Monet used to live and work.

After a wonderful lunch at the nearby Hotel Baudy
we took the opportunity to enjoy their stunning gardens and studio.
This was the first artist's studio in Giverny,
and they have left it in its original condition - with paints & brushes.
Artists such as Monet, Cézanne, Rodin, Sisley, Mary Cassat
and many modern American artists have worked in this modest
little studio between 1887 - 1914.

the gardens of the Hotel Baudy are stunning....and contain many sculptures.

then we walked down the road to Monet's garden....
5 acres of paradise - all tended and loved by just 8 gardeners.
The house & garden are 50 miles/80kms from Paris
and are open from April through to September.

in Giverny all the gardens are lovely - even the little shop selling seeds!
